The Government Sustainable Development Unit
The Sustainable Development Unit (SDU) is situated within the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). Their work to embed, monitor and report on sustainable development across Whitehall and the UK. This also includes the development of a UK strategy to set out how government facilitates the delivery of sustainable development. They also sponsor the Sustainable Development Commission, an advisory Non-Departmental Public Body, which was set up to report to the Prime Minister, the First Ministers in Scotland and Wales and the First Minister and Deputy First Minister in Northern Ireland.
The PEFC Council (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes)
The PEFC Council (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation, founded in 1999 which promotes sustainably managed forests through independent third party certification. The PEFC provides an assurance mechanism to purchasers of wood and paper products that they are promoting the sustainable management of forests.
The BFRC (British Fenestration Rating Council)
The BFRC is the operation of a UK national rating system for the thermal performance of fenestration products. The rating system is recognised within building regulations throughout the UK. Steel Window Services, our sister company are a London based company established in 1951 specialising in the overhauling, servicing and upgrading of existing mild steel windows and doors and the design, supply, fix and glaze of new SMW, EB14, EB24, W20 and W40 steel windows and doors and C55 cold rolled box section doors, for new build and replacement contracts. Contracts are carried out for both the commercial and residential markets.
